Frequently Asked Questions

Prices, payment and transport, in questions and answers.

Getting Started

Who can buy cars here?

Businesses that trade, import or export vehicles — dealers. This is not a service for private buyers. Registration asks for your name, email, company and country; a business licence is optional.

Do I need approval before I can do anything?

No. Browsing, enquiring and accepting quotes are open as soon as you register. Logistics-partner accounts are the only accounts we issue ourselves.

Which languages and currencies does the site use?

English and Korean today; Russian and Arabic are being added. Prices can be shown in US dollars or Korean won using the day’s rate, but every quote and payment is in US dollars.

Cars, Prices and Quotes

Can I see prices without logging in, and what do they include?

Yes — every listing and price is public. The price is the selling dealer’s price plus our 5% brokerage. Freight, insurance, customs clearance and taxes in your country are not included.

How is freight worked out?

Freight is sold by the logistics company and quoted per shipment. The rates on the Routes page are the forwarder’s indicative Q4 2026 figures from Incheon so you can plan; the quote for your cars adds Korean origin charges and may differ with car size, the round and destination clearance.

What is the converted amount under a price?

A reference figure at the day’s exchange rate, with its source and date shown. A quote fixes the rate when it is issued; the rate your bank applies to the transfer is your bank’s.

How do I read the inspection?

Every car is published with a government-format inspection. Seven items must be confirmed before a car appears: frame, engine, transmission, steering, accident, flood and fire — an issue is disclosed, a missing item withholds the car. The 3D view lifts out every panel with a recorded repair; the mechanical checks and the inspector’s note are translated. Fire history is not on the Korean form, so we confirm it separately before collection.

Orders and Payment

What happens after I enquire?

We confirm each car with its dealer and send you a quote per car. You accept car by car; each accepted car is reserved for you and its amount is fixed.

Can I cancel?

Before acceptance, freely. After acceptance, if the dealer raises the price we hold them to the agreed price or cancel that car and refund 100% of what you paid for it. Changing the destination, the car or the round costs nothing on the logistics side.

How do I pay? Is there card payment or escrow?

By bank wire in US dollars: the car price to Korea Merchants Group, the freight to the logistics company. There is no card payment and no escrow. We pay the dealer only after your payment has cleared in full.

Transport and Delivery

When does a car leave, and how long does it take?

Trains leave Yantai about every 15 days. A wagon needs at least two cars and may carry several buyers’ cars. Arrival is guaranteed within 40 days of the train’s actual departure; the measured and indicative days per city are on the Routes page.

How do cars get from Incheon to the train?

By sea feeder to Yantai, two cars per 45-ft container, then into the bonded yard at Yantai where they wait for the next train. The first 30 days in the yard are free.

Who handles customs, registration and taxes?

The importer. We run the transport and hand over the documents (export declaration, invoice, packing list, waybills), but customs clearance, certification, registration and taxes in your country are your responsibility. Korea Merchants Group is not responsible for customs clearance or registration.

Are the cars insured?

Yes. Every car is insured from departure in Korea to arrival at the destination; claims, deductibles and payouts follow the policy terms.
